Creativity
Creativity lies at the heart of Digital Humanities, driving innovation in how we explore, interpret, and represent cultural heritage, world knowledges and technologies. As the theme for Digital Humanities 2027, creativity celebrates the intersection of grassroots ingenuity and cutting-edge innovation, aligning perfectly with Galway’s rich tradition of blending community-driven creativity with the delivery of world-class arts, cultural spectacles and technological advancements.
Galway’s unique position as a hub for artistic expression and its leading role in creative industries – spanning the medical field, tech innovation, and cultural production – makes it an ideal host for this theme.
DH2027 will spotlight how creative methodologies and practices in Digital Humanities can inspire new approaches to interdisciplinary research, enrich cultural dialogue, and address pressing global challenges. By focusing on creativity, the conference will emphasize the transformative potential of Digital Humanities in bringing together the arts, sciences, and society. It will also provide an opportunity for emerging and currently underrepresented disciplines to join the growing pool of allied fields, further expanding the interdisciplinary reach of DH.
